Renowned Swedish funk and jazz trombonist Nils Landgren has used a
DPA 4099T clip mic for brass on his latest album,
The Moon the Stars and You, released in August 2011, which he describes as his best yet.
“I was introduced to DPA by a friend in the sound business and at first I did not really believe that one of their mics would be so different from my old microphone,” he says. “However after five minutes of testing I was totally convinced. This is the best microphone ever made for acoustic live instruments, no doubt about it! It’s easy to attach, the holder does not affect the sound and the difference in sound is amazing, compared to any microphone I’ve ever played with.
“Just follow my example: clip it on, adjust it slightly off centre so it does not pick up the sound from the centre of the bell, plug it in and enjoy the best possible sound you could ever imagine!”
