Full modularity: three new preamps with interchangeable capsules
Any Reference Standard capsule can be transformed into a new configuration by combining it with one of three new preamplifiers, providing signal integrity, noise elimination, and even tighter specifications.
New electronics design – up to 120 dB dynamic range
The new electronics design is optimized for the capsules as well as for the connection via long cable runs. The electronics allows you to get all the best out of the individual pre-polarized condenser capsules.
CMRR
In the electronics design the CMRR (RF rejection) is between >60 dB and >40 dB. The numbers could have been increased by adding a transformer to the circuit, but we decided not to sacrifice sound quality for bettter CMRR specs.
The best off-axis performance of any mic
In cardioid mics the only difference off axis should be a lower sensitivity, and the frequency responses should be as flat as possible.
Most studio cardioid (pressure gradient) mics will gradually act as pressure mics above a given frequency. Making this transition smooth and keeping the cardioid behavior intact is an art form. Test the off-axis responses of the DPA Reference Standard Microphones against any professional microphone – DPA cardioids are pure art.
